What is a JSON Formatter?
A JSON Formatter beautifies minified or compressed JSON into a human-readable indented format. It also validates JSON syntax, minifies pretty-printed JSON for network transmission, and helps you spot errors like missing commas, mismatched brackets, or incorrect data types.
How to Use It
- 1Paste your JSON string into the input area, or upload a .json file
- 2Click 'Format' to prettify with proper indentation, or 'Minify' to compress
- 3Validation errors are highlighted with the line number and description
- 4Use the copy button to copy the formatted output to your clipboard
Example
{"name":"Ravi","age":30,"city":"Mumbai"} formatted becomes: { "name": "Ravi", "age": 30, "city": "Mumbai" }
Why Use It
- Debug API responses and config files by making them readable
- Validate JSON before sending it to an API or saving to a database
- Minify JSON to reduce payload size for web applications
- Quickly inspect deeply nested JSON structures with tree-like indentation
